Massimo Sarmi, CEO of Poste Italiane, was recognised for the company’s successful transformationover the last decade at last night’s 12th World Mail Awards in Brussels. Eight other postal
operators also picked up awards at the industry’s unofficial ‘Oscars night’.Sarmi, who has led Poste Italiane’s turnaround from massive losses into a profitable anddiversified company, collected the Industry Leadership Award at the event, which was organised byTriangle Management Services. An audience of senior postal managers and other experts attended theevent in the city’s Conrad Hotel on the eve of this year’s World Mail & Express Europeconference.
“For me it is a great honour to receive this prestigious award, also because the judging panelincludes important former and current leaders of the industry. This recognition is not only for mywork over the last nine years, but also for my team, including more than 150,000 colleagues whointeract with our customers every day,” Sarmi declared.
Fast-growing Polish postal company InPost picked up two awards, one for Innovation and one forE-commerce, while the Growth award went to PostNord and its business unit, Post Danmark, won theCustomer Service award.
Swiss Post gained the Retail award, Guernsey Post picked up the People Management award and CTTCorreios de Portugal was recognised for its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
The two operational awards went to non-public postal operators. RPost UK won the Security awardwhile Neopost was recognised in the Technology category.
