DHL Global Forwarding has opened a new storage and distribution centre in Buenos Aires,Argentina, expanding its presence in the country.
Strategically located in Parque Patricios, the key area of the city of Buenos Aires, the US$0.3million facility is just a few minutes away from the port and downtown, with easy access to theairport.
The new 5,000 sqm centre adds to DHL’s two existing facilities at the site, which cover 12,000sqm. The new centre incorporates business for sectors such as communications, domestic appliances,electronics and automotive spare parts.
The third distribution centre Parque Patricios III increases the overall storage capacity by 40%to 4,500 pallet positions and 15 more staff have been hired. In total, 13,700 people are employedat the three centres in the region. Day-to-day, the three centres deconsolidate and ship an averageof 800 m3 across Argentina employing 63 staff.
With the latest investment, DHL’s freight forwarding division continues to invest in its locallogistics activities serving businesses in the area around Buenos Aires with distributionthroughout the country and exporters spread over the regions of Cuyo, Tucumán, Valle de Río Negro,Litoral and Mar del Plata.

The centres, now covering a total area of 17,000 sqm, are certified according to ISO standardsand equipped with sophisticated security systems approved by the audits of DHL’s multinationalcustomers. In the context of increasingly competitive trading conditions, companies require muchmore efficient logistics in order to achieveg economies of scale and synergies in the supply chain,DHL Argentina said.
