Spanish express and parcel operator MRW was honoured for its e-commerce service at this month’sSpanish E-Commerce Awards 2011.
The Spanish E-Commerce Awards, held during the Spanish E-Commerce Expo in Madrid, recognised theefforts of companies operating in the sector of e-commerce and differentiated between twocategories of retail outlets and providers of e-commerce services.
MRW received the award for “The Best E-Logistics Service” in this second category. The awardalso recognised the latest enhancements of the company’s e-commerce service launched in January2011 which provide more convenience to customers.
Among new features, the enhanced version offers customers an exchange service for productsbought online. Previously, customers had to return the products they didn’t like back to the shopbut couldn’t change them at that moment. Now MRW offers the possibility for customers to exchangethe purchase at the moment they get their refund.
As another advantage of the improved service, MRW allows customers to choose a time slot withinwhich they want to receive their order made via the internet. Companies using MRW’s e-commerceservice could previously choose between getting their ordered product delivered to their homes orpicking it up at one of over 680 MRW branches in Spain and Portugal. Instead of only choosing theday of receiving the parcel as before, they can now also decide on the time frame between 8 am and14 pm or between 2 and 7 pm.
In addition, MRW has developed special solutions for online shops that operate directly fromtheir suppliers and don’t have their own warehouses (market places). This way, MRW enables onlinestores to ship the products to their customers from different origins (warehouses) spread acrossSpain and Portugal.
MRW’s E-Commerce service now counts more than 3,000 active users who rely on it when buyinggoods online.
Meanwhile, MRW has launched the project “Connect your business” in cooperation with Google and afew other organisations to help Spanish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) digitalise theiractivities.
In Spain, 23% of the more than 3.3 million SMEs do not have a website. This equals about 750,000companies while the number of Spanish citizens surfing in the internet has already reached 26million, a study by Google Spain revealed.
The project ‘www.conectatunegocio.es’ offers free website creation and hosting under “.es”domain and a backup customer service for one year.
