TNT expands services in South America

TNT has launched two new international services in Brazil as part of its expansion in SouthAmerica.

The company started operating a nonstop International Road Express (IRE) service between thecity of Mendoza in Argentina and Brazil last month.  The IRE service offers door-to-doordelivery with stated transit times.

The service is targeted at Argentinian exporters shipping goods to their eastern neighbour.Mendoza is a well-known wine producing region and exports considerable volumes to Brazil.

Ricardo Gelain, TNT Brazil’s marketing director, said: “All our vehicles are monitored 24 hoursa day and the shipments are controlled. We can thus offers a flexible customs dispatchservice.”

The new Mendoza connection is part of the company’s South American Road Network which linksBrazil, Argentina and Chile.

Separately, TNT Brazil has extended its International Freight service for exports to moredeparture points. The service was launched last September and was available in the state of SãoPaulo, offering transportation from the airports of Viracopos and Cumbica to Europe, China and theUSA.

With effect from March the service has been extended to the southern region of Brazil. Thisfollows monthly growth rates of 30% for the service, which are now likely to increase to 40% amonth, according to the company.
