trans-o-flex ThermoMed, the specialist for temperature-controlled shipments within thetrans-o-flex family, was selected by kohlpharma, the European importer of pharmaceuticals, to
provide temperature-controlled transportation of its pharmaceuticals across Germany.As part of the agreement, ThermoMed will ship all pharmaceutical products of kohlpharma at atemperature ranging between 2 and 8°C or 15 and 25°C depending on product-specificrequirements.
Claiming to be the leading European pharmaceutical importer, kohlpharma hopes to prevent qualitydrawbacks that can emerge through too high or too low temperatures during transportation byswitching to active temperature-controlled delivery.
With its nationwide distribution network and a fleet of special vehicles, trans-o-flex ThermoMedis able to ensure active temperature control and full compliance over the temperature rangeswithout additional packaging.
Carsten Glos, Managing Director of trans-o-flex ThermoMed, commented: “The loading space in ourspecial vehicles is divided into two separate chambers. Compliance with the temperaturerequirements is permanently monitored and documented from the time the products are collected fromthe customer and the handling in our hub to the delivery to the pharmacy.”
Dr Christoph Frick, Director Quality Assurance at kohlpharma, said: “At a time, when theimporters of pharmaceuticals are confronted with additional regulations imposed by the politicians,we consider this decision a clear signal that we are not willing to accept any cuts in the qualityof the pharmaceuticals offered by us. Quite on the contrary: having introduced documentedtemperature control, we are now able to exclude any risk of quality loss duringtransportation.”
