DPD Austria

DPD Austria increased its revenues 4% to €153 million in 2010 compared to the crisis-affectedyear 2009 thanks to the growing parcel volumes in the country.

In 2010, imports and exports in particular generated strong growth rising 6.2% and 12.5%respectively compared to the previous year. Domestic parcel volumes also rose by 3.6%. Overall, DPDdelivered 37.5 million parcels last year which equals 5.4% year-on-year growth.

Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director of DPD Austria, commented: “We are delighted that we were ableto generate a clear plus in 2010, increase our total parcel volumes by 5.4% and  generating arevenue increase of 4%. The business grew very strongly in the second half of the year aboveall.”

DPD Austria said it profited from many companies downsizing their regional interim storagefacilities to distribution centres or even closing them. “DPD can provide an alternative for suchsituations offering direct delivery instead of these distribution centres,” Schwarz explained.

“We try to keep our services always up-to-date. Our good figures are a sign that we canperfectly serve our customers even in the times of crisis and that we are a reliable logisticspartner,” he added.

Last month, DPD Austria relaunched its ‘DPD-business.at’ website, targeting B2B customers. Thenew design offers improved usability and simpler parcel navigation. Users can manage their orders, view the status of their parcels and manage their personal settings.

The new website focuses on parcel navigation. With the ‘StarTrack’ function, customers getaccess to extended parcel information. In addition, parcel labels can be printed online and qualitystatistics can be viewed.

“Our motivation to redesign DPD-business.at was clearly to further expand and improve ourcustomer service. With this site, we have set up a ‘control centre’ enabling customers to workfaster and easier,” Schwarz said.

DPD Austria employs around 1,500 staff and operates a delivery fleet of 900 vehicles.
