USPS has launched a new parcel service in cooperation with Hongkong Post to boost the growinginternational e-commerce market between Greater China and the USA.
The new ePacket service offers more options for e-commerce traders in Hong Kong to reachconsumer markets in the United States, USPS said.
The new shipping solution features tracking and delivery confirmation in the US Postal Servicenetwork for lightweight goods and merchandise ordered by the US consumers from merchants in HongKong. The in-process scanning information and delivery confirmation notification are availablethrough Hongkong Post’s tracking system and through Track and Confirm at usps.com.
Merchants selecting the shipping solution through Hongkong Post are now able to ship smallpackages weighing up to two kilograms through the use of co-branded shipping labels. Upon arrivalin the United States, these packages are delivered with First-Class Mail service including deliveryconfirmation.
Paul Vogel, USPS president and chief marketing/sales officer, said: “This agreement offersvisibility previously unavailable in the small packet segment between Hongkong Post and the PostalService. It shows the Postal Service has the flexibility to develop service options to meet marketdemand from businesses around the world. Further, it solidifies our role as a key supplier inglobal commerce.”
Hongkong Post’s agreement with USPS includes jointly developed data-rich shipping labelsintegrated with bar-coding technology readable by both postal operators, along with logisticsplanning and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) information exchanges.
The new service was unveiled at a ceremony by Vogel, Eddie Mak, deputy postmaster general,Hongkong Post, and Jeff Liao, CEO, eBay Greater China, South East Asia and Japan.
