All major express operators are now operating again in Egypt following the resumption ofservices by FedEx and TNT.
A FedEx Express spokeswoman told CEP-Research: “FedEx Express has resumed its operations inEgypt, but still faces some service delays as a result of continuing political unrest. FedExfacilities at Paris Charles De Gaulle, London Heathrow and Dubai International airports have begunmoving shipments destined for Egypt.
“We are closely monitoring this situation and we have operational contingency plans in place tominimise the service delays. Normal service will be fully re-instated as soon as the situationpermits. We’d like to thank our customers for their understanding in this matter,” she added.
TNT Express said it, too, has re-opened its local offices and has resumed operations. TNToffices around the world had been told to resume accepting and forwarding shipments to Egypt asnormal.
“Egypt is gradually going back to normal operations,” a spokesman told CEP-Research. However, adelay of 48 hours is expected on inbound and outbound clearance, also on pick up and delivery dueto the curfew, he noted.
DHL Express restarted partial collection and delivery services in the country last week usingsecure pick-up and delivery points while Aramex partially resumed delivering shipments in Egypt onSaturday February 5. UPS has maintained a limited collection and delivery service within the Cairoarea.
