Nightfreight strengthens cooperation with UK’s major storage supplier

British parcels carrier Nightfreight has reinforced its cooperation with Rapid Racking, the UK’slargest storage solutions supplier, with a further three and a half year contract.

As part of the seven figure contract, Rapid Racking will outsource all of its onward deliveriesfor the first time to Nightfreight while it has been operating its own in-house fleet until now.The exact contract value was not disclosed.

Nightfreight said it will manage the complete outbound delivery of Rapid Racking’s full productrange including pallet racking, shelving and containers from its Gloucestershire site to its B2Band B2C customers across the UK.

Under the new contract, the UK’s supply chain specialist will operate five dedicated vehiclesfrom its sites in Risley, Southall, Willenhall and Pucklechurch, supported by its national ‘shareduse’ network of 53 depots. Nightfreight will employ the latest wireless hand-held technology tomanage the delivery of over 9,000 consignments per year.

Phil Davies, customer fulfilment manager at Rapid Racking, explained that Nightfreight hasprovided an exceptional service for the last six years. “This strong partnership will help ussignificantly improve service levels and process orders faster than ever before.”

“By outsourcing all our outbound deliveries, we will be able to take advantage of Nightfreight’sfull range of multi-delivery channels to ensure we’re delivering a first class service to our UKcommercial and retail customers,” he added.

Established in 1984, Nightfreight offers four main delivery channels as either stand aloneservices or multi-configurable options including single parcel express and non-standard freight.These four delivery channels comprise two-man shared user home delivery nationwide, specialistwarehousing, handling and installation ‘white glove’ service and dedicated logistics.
