I look forward to workingclosely with Moya as we tackle the challenges ahead and continue to focus on satisfying ourcustomers and maintaining the six-days-a-week Universal Service.”
As Royal Mail CEO, Greene will face the task of modernising the British postal operator, findingstrategic responses to the structural changes in the mail and parcels market, improvingrelationships with the CWU union and working closely with the new government, which plans topart-privatise the company.
At Canada Post, Greene led a wide-ranging transformation programme to increase quality ofservice and efficiency across the organisation, Royal Mail pointed out. After decades ofunder-investment, CPC has moved to a stage where it is implementing state-of-the art “walksequencing” technology which sorts mail to the exact sequence of addresses along each postman andpostwoman’s route. She also implemented changes which give Canada Post a secure financial baseincluding pricing certainty, access to debt markets and a clear understanding of Canada Post’sservice obligations.
Marc Courtois, Chairman of the Board, Canada Post, commented: “While we are sorry to lose Moya, she leaves Canada Post extremely well placed to face the future. Among Moya’s accomplishments arethe $2 billion Postal Transformation programme, the significant increase in the annual EmployeeEngagement scores, and other improvements in safety, on-time delivery, reduced absenteeism andincreased automation. These improvements have led, despite the declining use of traditional mailand a recession in 2009, to five consecutive profitable years since her arrival at CanadaPost.”
The Canada Post Board of Directors will now seek to appoint an interim CEO and launch afull-scale search for a new Chief Executive Officer.
