UPS to outsource some China services

UPS will build its largest service-sharing base in the Asia Pacific region in eastern China andoutsource some services to the facility, Chinese media have reported.

UPS has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the municipal government of Hefei, capital ofAnhui province, the China Daily newspaper reported. UPS is expected to start construction in Augustthis year, it said. Hundreds of jobs will be created at the site for college graduates, the localAnhui Today website added.

Richard Loi, vice-president of UPS Asia-Pacific, said the base will help improve efficiency asthe company will outsource some non-core businesses. The base will thus allow UPS to better focuson its core business, he explained.
