Deutsche Post DHL will outsource more IT activities in Germany to T-Systems, a Deutsche Telekomsubsidiary, under an expanded contract worth a high triple-digit million euro amount.
The agreement, which is part of DP DHL’s global initiative to reduce IT andtelecommunications costs, aims at cost savings of almost €400 million over the next five years, thecompany announced.
The two parties have re-resigned an existing contract covering the computer centre as well asinfrastructure, network and desktop services ahead of schedule and extended it by a further fiveyears to 2014.
In addition, the new contract will cover additional value-added services. As part of itsfuture role, T-Systems will assume responsibility for complete process chains between Deutsche PostDHL and its customers. In addition, the Telekom subsidiary will take on the operation of 65applications plus additional computer center services previously carried out by other Deutsche PostDHL suppliers.
Under the terms of the agreement some 100 employees of Deutsche Post DHL will transfer toT-Systems with effect from April 1, 2010.

As recently as mid-December T-Systems North America signed another agreement with DeutschePost DHL covering service provision in the USA. On January 1, 2010 T-Systems took charge of theformer Deutsche Post DHL computer center in Scottsdale, USA. This agreement also has a five-yearterm with a contract valued in the mid double-digit million euro range.
