Belgian Post International (BPI) has purchased a majority share in MSI Worldwide Mail, a US-basedmail and parcel distribution company, to further expand its retail operations in the US and
worldwide.Peter Somers, member of the Executive Committee at Belgian Post and in charge of Belgian PostInternational, stated: “This partnership provides us with the opportunity to reinforce our futuregrowth in foreign markets. Belgian Post International has acquired a great deal of experience andknow-how in recent years and through this deal we will now further expand our business in the USretail market.”
The new acquisition follows record-breaking sales and profits that MSI generated last yearand will enable MSI to further invest in additional operations, equipment and strategic acquisitionopportunities.
MSI will continue to operate as MSI Worldwide Mail with full autonomy, giving it thepossibility to use distribution vendors and postal administrations of its choice.
Christopher Taylor, the CEO of MSI, said: “Having Belgian Post as a strategic partnerprovides MSI with the global resources necessary to further strengthen our position in NorthAmerica and expand our service offering. Moreover, the new relationship will allow additionalinvestment in technology and product offerings to meet client demands in the coming decade.”
Headquartered in Sterling, Virginia, MSI Worldwide Mail, was founded three and a half yearsago. This year, the company expects to generate sales of $35 million.
As the international business unit of the Belgian postal operator De Post – La Poste, BPImanages international mail and parcel distribution, providing excellent and profitable services tocustomers in Belgium and abroad. In the last 5 years, BPI managed to double its turnover, MSI saidin a statement.
