DHL Express has restored operations in most of Chile and hopes to restart soon internationalservices to and from the country following the devastating earthquake late last month.
The multinational delivery company said that after intense work it resumed basic service anddelivery in nine of the country’s thirteen regions on March 2. This was just five days after one ofthe strongest earthquakes in the last 50 years in Chile’s history. The customer service centre isnow working again normally.
DHL Chile plans to restart international services as soon as operations normalise at Santiagoairport. International flights have now begun to operate again at the airport.
Adolfo Sommer, Country Manager for Chile, said: “Together with appreciating the commitment andsafe delivery of the hundreds of DHL Chile employees, we want to express our solidarity with themany families that are suffering the loss of a loved one. Because of this, and understanding thatcommunications are basic in situations like this, we have worked diligently to restore ourtransport network, to be ready to offer our delivery services following one of the biggest naturalcatastrophes that Chile has ever had.”
