DHL Express has launched two new strategic air routes from Frankfurt and Paris to its US air hubat Cincinnati to expand its next-day deliveries from Germany, France and some neighbouring

countries to the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The express operator has started weekday flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Cincinnati, using one of its three B767-300 freighters, and launched a weekdayLeipzig-Frankfurt-Cincinnati-Leipzig route with the eighth Aerologic B777-200 freighter.

The new direct dedicated flights between Paris and Frankfurt and the main North America air hubin Cincinnati provide DHL customers with later cut-off times and assured overnight deliverycapacity to the USA. The new connections are timed to feed directly into DHL’s North Americanovernight Express network.

“DHL is seeing continuously high demand for transatlantic express services and the two newroutes will help customers on both sides of the Atlantic to improve their export and import flows,”said John Pearson, chief executive officer for DHL Express Europe. “Canada, the USA and Mexicoremain very important trade partners for the European markets and for DHL Express the transatlantictrade lane is a key growth area.”

The Frankfurt departure meant that pick-ups from German customers could be made up to two hourslater and enabled the company to offer next-day 10.30 deliveries to nearly 80% of US zipcodes thatwere relevant for businesses, DHL noted.

Wolfgang Albeck, head of DHL Express Germany, commented: “The new direct flight is a furthermilestone for us to strengthen our position as the world’s leader in international expressshipping. It was important for us to offer an absolutely competitive service which gives many ofour customers a time advantage and which convinces through an excellent operationalperformance.”

Florence Noblot, head of DHL International Express France, added: “The USA is our top exportdestination outside Europe. We can offer our customers additional capacity and we will be twice asfast to North America.” Special measures including specific pick-ups for regular customers andfaster customs clearance had been introduced, she pointed out.

To serve high demand for fast-to-market air transport, DHL has enhanced its air routes fromEurope to North America in the past year by investing in a fleet of new Boeing 767F aircraft andestablishing connections from Leipzig and East Midlands to Cincinnati and New York.
