Hermes has launched a new delivery service for private customers in Germany to ship their parcelsto Switzerland and Liechtenstein with effect from today.
With this move, Hermes has further expanded its international parcel delivery network whichnow comprises 24 European countries. Deliveries in Switzerland and Liechtenstein will be madethrough cooperation partner Swiss Post International Logistics.
Along with private customers, smaller business shippers in Germany with customers inSwitzerland will also profit from the expansion of the European delivery network, the company saidin a statement. Shipments can be handed in and paid for at the 14,000 Hermes parcel shops.
The new solution is valid for diverse parcel categories with a maximum weight of up to 20 kgand includes insurance cover of up to €500. Orders for parcels of the categories XS, S, M or L canbe made exclusively online under www.myhermes.de as well as via the shipping label that can becompleted online. The printed label can then be stuck on the parcel.
Since Switzerland and Liechtenstein are not members of the EU, customers have to fill out anadditional online customs declaration which is forwarded electronically to the customs authorities.Business customers also receive a commercial invoice that is placed on the parcel together with theshipping label.
Frank Iden, Hermes sales and marketing director, explained: “Customs-related aspects inparticular often pose problems to customers. Therefore, we have given particular attention to asimple and easily-understandable procedure.”
