Middle East-based express and logistics group Aramex has joined the industry group Cargo 2000, aninitiative within the International Air Transport Association (IATA), to enhance its quality and
process management systems.Cargo 2000 specialises in quality management systems for the global air freight industry andre-engineers the air cargo transportation scheme from shipper to consignee. Its processes arebacked by quality standards that are measurable to improve the efficiency of air cargo.
The initiative’s global member base comprises some 60 major airlines, freight forwarders,ground handling agents, trucking companies and IT providers operating in over 350 locations.
“Joining Cargo 2000 demonstrates Aramex’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency andquality of customer service,” said Safwan Tannir, Chief Freight Officer, Aramex. “The new systemenables us to measure our performance against global industry standards, be more agile in ourservice and proactive in communicating and responding to our clients needs.”

Cargo 2000 brings many benefits on both the financial and process fronts. Its systems enableincreased new business based on preferred supplier status made possible by the data-backed qualityperformance indicators. The manual track and trace activities can be processed more quickly.Through the standardised processes, the system also adds immense value to the warehouse andtrucking operations. In addition, it improves processes towards paperless shipping management,Aramex added.
