The German express company trans-o-flex has won a contract with the American Tech Data Corporation,the second largest distributor of computer products, to manage its complete parcel delivery and LCL
freight volumes for Germany leaving the European logistic centre in Bor (Czech Republic).The American Tech Data Corporation had invited companies to place their bid for a contractcovering the preparatory measures in the company’s European central warehouse in Bor, in the Eastof the Czech Republic, as well as the distribution of the goods in Germany. The daily volumes thatwill from now on be distributed via the trans-o-flex network amount to several thousand parcels andseveral hundred pallets.
In Bor, located not far from Prague, a team of at least 15 members will take over theshipments directly from Tech Data’s 35,000 sqm warehouse. They will be responsible for scanning theparcels, arranging the pallets according to route and protecting the goods with foils.
From Bor, all of trans-o-flex’s six hubs in Germany are served directly. For shipments pickedup before 10:30 p.m., this system ensures nationwide delivery within 24 hours. It often takes evenless than 24 hours from order receipt to delivery as the majority of customer orders received bylate afternoon is commissioned by Tech Data and handed over to trans-o-flex on the very same day.
“We were able to win the Tech Data contract because our solution approach is specificallytailored to the needs of the customer”, explains Wolfgang Weber, Managing Director of trans-o-flex.“Tech Data needs a service provider that is able to manage the entire process chain for all typesof shipments and, as an industry expert, can ensure careful and safe treatment of the sensitivegoods.
