DHL wins supply chain award

DHL’s customer relationship management organisation, DHL Global Customer Solutions (GCS), hasreceived a prestigious SCM Logistics Excellence Award for 2009 as one of five winners in the

Outstanding Partner category.

The awards, made at last week’s SCM event in Singapore, celebrate companies that have playedsignificant roles in creating and deploying supply chains that have helped improve a customer’soverall business performance.

DHL GCS was selected from more than 30 nominations based on its ability to regularlydemonstrate quantifiable business results for customers through reliable service level performance.DHL GCS was also recognised for its track record in addressing environmental challenges through thecompany’s global GoGreen program that is focused on reducing carbon emissions.

Judges also acknowledged DHL GCS for its innovation in establishing DHL’s Supply Chain Centerof Excellence (SCCE), an organisation pioneered by GCS, and supported by the Singapore EconomicDevelopment Board (EDB). This industry-leading partnership was established to facilitate, andsupport local and foreign investors in the manufacturing and services sectors in Singapore, and isfocused on delivering value in three key areas: strategic consultancy, thought leadership andtechnology & innovation.

The SCM Logistics Excellence Award winners were selected by an independent panel of judges,which included world-renowned experts from international consultancies and academic institutions.The members of the distinguished panel for 2009 were Professor Waiman Cheung, Director Li &Fung Institute of Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Chinese University of Hong Kong, ProfessorYossi Sheffi, Professor of Engineering and Director, MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics,Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, Dr. William Grenoble, Executive Director, Center forSupply Chain Research, Penn State Smeal College of Business, USA, Jeffrey Russell, ManagingDirector, Global Supply Chain Practice, Accenture, Professor Daniel Corsten, Professor ofOperations and Supply Chain Management, IE Business School, Spain, and Steve Banker, DirectorSupply Chain Management, ARC Advisory Group, USA.
