DHL has been chosen by Madison Components, a premier US distributor of electronic components,as its preferred international express shipping provider. The contract volume and value were not
disclosed.Madison Components is a global supplier of active and passive electronic components,distributing its products to original equipment and contract electronic manufacturers (OEMs andCEMs) all over the world. The company will now leverage DHL Express Worldwide and DHL ImportExpress Worldwide services for delivery of products between the US and its own global network ofsuppliers, as well as customers worldwide.
Madison’s suppliers and customers are based primarily in Asia Pacific and throughoutEurope. DHL leverages over 40 direct flights that connect the US and the Asia Pacific region,as well as daily, direct flights between DHL US gateways and destinations across Europe.
“We have significant partnerships with suppliers in Asia Pacific and Europe, but gettingproduct to and from these regions of the world quick enough to meet our customers’ needs has been achallenge,” said Matt Pelletier, President/CEO of Madison Components. “We were looking for a globaltransportation carrier that could reduce lead times for our customers to help them meet extremelytight production schedules. Since we started using DHL Express, we already have seensignificant reductions in transit times along the US – Asia Pacific trade lane, and our customershave already noticed and appreciated these service improvements.”
DHL Express also will provide Madison Components with improved visibility and control of itscross border shipments through DHL Proview, a system that gives DHL customers real-time eventnotification when a shipment or group of shipments reaches key transfer points – such as transitingan international gateway. “With DHL, we now know exactly what shipments are coming into thecountry, and when, so we can plan accordingly and alert our customers,” said Pelletier.
