Georg Pölzl yesterday took up office as the Chairman of the Management Board and Chief ExecutiveOfficer of Austrian Post.
In June of this year, the Supervisory Board of Austrian Post appointed Mr. Pölzl as the newCEO for the five-year period ending September 30, 2014. Rudolf Jettmar, who managed the company onan interim basis, will remain as Austrian Post’s Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chairman of theManagement Board. “I would like to thank Mr. Jettmar and all the members of the Management Boardfor their outstanding work, and look forward to working together with them,” Pölzl said.
“I am assuming this responsible position with great pleasure but also considerable respectfor the formidable challenges facing Austrian Post due to the process of market liberalisation andchanges in the postal business“, he added. “For this reason, my priority during the upcoming weekswill be to also get to know Austrian Post from the inside.”
Georg Pölzl most recently served as the Spokesman of the Management Board of T-MobileGermany. Previously, he worked for two years as the special deputy of the Management Board ofDeutsche Telekom with responsibility for implementing the successful restructuring programme at thecompany. Before moving to Germany, Mr. Pölzl was the Managing Director of T-Mobile Austria inVienna. Georg Pölzl began his professional career as a corporate consultant for McKinsey & Co.
