German express operator GO! has appointed Ulrich Nolte (45) as its new managing director witheffect 1 from February 2010 after the two previous managing directors Ralf Hans Dierks and
Christopher Stoller left the company a few months ago.Nolte was formerly head of express at GLS and also ran its courier subsidiary Der Kurier. Hepreviously held managerial positions at DPD and DHL during his 16 years working in the express andparcels industry.
“With the appointment of Ulrich Nolte as GO! managing director, we have succeeded in winninga proven express and logistics expert,” said Knut Engler-Leblanc, advisory board chairman. “Heknows the CEP industry and its customer potential very well and will play a decisive role inimproving the competitiveness of GO! in the courier and express market in Germany and Europe.”
Nolte will be responsible for targeting new customers by intensifying sales and businessdevelopment, and introducing innovative new express services. The GO! head office manages centralfunctions and the operator’s overnight linehaul network, while the regional partners run theirlocal operations.
Ralf Hans Dierks had been the managing director of the medium-sized express firm since 2005.The reason for his resignation was not disclosed. Christopher Stoller, joint managing directorsince last year, already left the company at his own request with effect from 31 August.
Pending the appointment of new management, Michael Jäschke, chairman of the company’sadvisory board, and Thomas Eichberger were named as temporary managing directors by the company’sshareholders.
GO! transported more than 3.1 million express documents, parcels and freight shipments in2008, a 10% rise. It had stable volumes in the first half of 2009, and expected moderatesingle-digit growth this year after several years of double-digit growth rates. The operator doesnot release revenue or profit figures.
