Roberts Europe wins Lean and Green Award for sustainability

Roberts Europe Lean and Green Award

Dutch-based logistics company Roberts Europe has won the first Lean and Green Award under theinnovation programme of the Dutch Ministry of Transport and Public Works.



Roberts Europe says that in 2008 it invested in new computer and communication systems whichhave allowed the company to optimise its Premium Freight transports in the whole of Europe. Using asustainability index and measurement methodology, the CO2 emission can be calculated. RobertsEurope’s objective is to increase the efficiency of the operational and transport processes by 4% ayear and thus reduce the CO2 emission by 4% a year.

Quality & Safety Manager at Roberts Europe, Koen Sevriens, said: “For years now we haveaspired to make our processes more efficient in order to optimise the cargo space of the vehicles.We are very proud of this award. It rewards our effort and stimulates us to invest more insustainable logistics processes.”

The “Sustainable logistics” innovation programme is an initiative of the Ministry ofTransport and Public Works in co-operation with several partners in the economics, environment andlogistics sectors with the aim of stimulating developing companies to a higher sustainabilitylevel. Research and guidance in the selection procedure and the preparation for this SustainableLogistics Award were provided by Connekt in Delft.
