Business Post Group, the British parcels and mail delivery company, has reported strong growth inthe half-year ending 30 September, 2008.
In a short pre-close period trading update for the half-year, the company said that grouprevenues for the half-year increased by 16.3% on the equivalent period last year. Revenues for itsparcel business, its main activity, showed a satisfactory improvement on last year, it said.
The mail business, UK Mail, achieved good growth, driven by new business wins and furthermail volumes from existing customers. Revenues in Specialist Services for the period were upsignificantly on last year, with new contracts driving a strong improvement in the Courierbusiness, it noted.
Business Post Group will report its interim results for the six months ended 30 September2008 on 19 November 2008.
In the 2007/08 business year ending March 31, 2008, Business Post’s group revenues grew by10.1% to £358.6 million (€449.6 million) and its operating profit jumped 39.4% to £14.5 million(€18.2 million). Parcel revenues were 7.2% lower at £179.8 million (€225.4 million) and the unit’soperating profit increased by 2% to £15.4 million (€19.3 million). UK Mail increased revenues by52% to £137.3 million (€172.1 million) and its operating profits were up 56% to £10 million (€12.5million).
