Senior executive changes were announced during September at DHL, TNT, Hermes Logistik, Go! and GLS.
Richard Owens was named Senior Vice President for DHL’s Global Customer Solutions (GCS)organization in the Asia Pacific region. GCS is responsible for the customer relationshipmanagement of DHL’s largest customers worldwide.
Previously Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales for DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific,he will be responsible for building on business capabilities and solutions across DHL’s express,air and ocean freight, and contract logistics businesses to lead and drive the growth of DHL’s topglobal customers served by GCS. Based in Singapore, he reports to GCS’s recently-appointed ChiefExecutive Officer, Hans Hickler.
In Europe, Eric Malitzke, currently managing director of Leipzig/Halle Airport, will switchjobs to take over as head of the DHL Leipzig Hub next year. He replaces Robert Vliegers who took upthe post of managing director operations DHL Express Benelux on September 1.
DHL Express Sweden appointed a new environmental manager, Ylva Öhrnell, to take charge ofactivities designed to reduce the company’s local carbon dioxide emissions as part of thegroup-wide target of a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020. She joins the company from theenergy sector. In Chile, DHL Express has named Esteban Proano Guerra as the new marketing manager.
Luigi Pezzuto took up the post of Country Marketing & Sales Manager for TNT Swiss Post,the joint venture between TNT Express and Swiss Post, on September. He replaces Andries Waalbergwho has been Country General Manager since June. In Germany, TNT Express has named three new depotmanagers. Soner Canbulat has taken charge of the Hamburg branch, one of TNT’s major locations inGermany. Mario Reppe is the new depot manager in Leipzig while his successor in Magdeburg is ThomasSachsenweger.
German consumer logistics specialist Hermes Logistik has expanded its management with theappointment of Philip Nölling as director in charge of finances, IT, HR, security and locationswith effect from March 2009. He is currently financial director for parent company Otto Group.
German express operator GO! broadened its management at the start of September. ChristopherStoller took up the position of director with responsibility for international business, sales andmarketing. He was previously with logistics companies Fiege and then Geodis where he was in chargeof business development. At the same time, Detlef Kowaltschuk was named head of IT.
GLS appointed Karsten Klitmøller as the new managing director in Denmark in place of MichaelBrink Pedersen who is leaving after two years in the post to start his own company. Klitmøller, aformer country manager of DPD in Denmark, aims to expand GLS’ position both in Denmark and the restof Scandinavia through network and operational improvements.
