DPWN ranked top logistics company for climate protection

Deutsche Post World Net has been ranked No.1 in the logistics industry in the Carbon DisclosureLeadership Index (CDLI) and plans to invest further in its climate protection programme GoGreen.



DPWN is included in the CDLI due to an exemplary contribution to climate protection, thelatest Global 500 report of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) 2008 shows. The company wasrecognised for transparent reporting of its own carbon footprint and the measures it hasimplemented, such as the GoGreen climate protection program. DPWN says that CO2 efficiency is to beimproved by an additional 30% by 2020.

“The fact that we are the only company in our industry that has been included in the CDLIshows that we are on the right track in pursuing climate-friendly logistics,” said MonikaWulf-Mathies, Managing Director of Corporate Public Policy and Sustainability at Deutsche PostWorld Net. “We are very proud of this recognition of our work and regard it as an incentive to keepsupporting ambitious climate protection goals in our industry.”

“Our inclusion in the CDL Index encourages us to rigorously pursue our targets,” added MarkusReckling, Managing Director of Corporate Development at DPWN and the person in charge of theGoGreen climate protection program. The Group aims to reach its goals by investing in modernaircraft and vehicle fleets, boosting the energy efficiency of plants and buildings, developinginnovative technologies, and getting its employees involved in the effort.

The CDL Index lists 67 companies from the Global 500 Index that have stood out for theirexemplary contributions to climate protection. It is compiled by the auditing companyPricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) on behalf of the CDP, a joint initiative of 385 globally activeinstitutional investors with combined investment assets of more than $ 57 trillion.

The CDLI and the CDP’s annual report are based on a broad survey in which companies are askedabout their CO2 emissions as well as their concrete CO2 reduction targets and climate protectionstrategies. Fewer than 400 of the Global 500 companies took part in the 2008 survey.

In addition to the CDLI inclusion, DPWN also had its listing in the FTSE4Good Index Seriesconfirmed.
