Itella Logistics has officially closed the €200 million acquisition of the National LogisticCompany (NLC), the leading warehousing service provider in the Russian logistics market,
strengthening its position in Northern Europe and making it one of the market leaders in thegrowing Russian logistics market.With the takeover, Itella will provide logistics services throughout Russia via its extensivelogistics centre network and transport connections. The company says that it will start theintegration process with NLC immediately and develop the new Itella-NLC brand in the Russianmarket.
“The deal will reinforce the position of Itella Logistics as one of the strongest logisticsoperators in Northern Europe and make it one of the market leaders in the rapidly growing Russianlogistics market,” commented Vesa Vertanen, head of Itella Logistics Business Unit. “ItellaLogistics will provide and develop further logistics services throughout Russia via its extensivelogistics centre network and transport connections.”
Itella Logistics started its own service operations in Russia two years ago. Since then, thecompany opened and expanded warehouse facilities in Moscow (40,000 sqm) and will complete anotherlogistics centre in St. Petersburg (11,000 sqm) this year.
