TNT sustains leadership in Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes

TNT has again outscored its competitors to remain the industry leader in the Dow JonesSustainability Indexes (DJSI) for the industrial transportation sector and the super sector ‘

industrial goods and services.’ UPS has meanwhile published its latest sustainability report.

TNT said it reached the highest score of all companies included in the DJSI for the secondyear in a row. It achieved the overall score of 92% out of a possible 100%. In addition, it got thehighest score in each of the three dimensions – Economic, Environmental, and Social – that make upthe index. TNT achieved the best scores (100%) in the areas of customer relationship management,fuel efficiency, codes of conduct/compliance, and risk and crisis management.

The figures were published in a report by SAM, which assessed the sustainability reportingand performance of over 1,100 companies.

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first global indexes trackingthe financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. Based on thecooperation of Dow Jones Indexes, STOXX Limited and SAM they provide asset managers with reliableand objective benchmarks to manage sustainability portfolios.

Separately, UPS has released its sixth annual Corporate Sustainability Report with progressreports on the company’s economic, social and environmental performance based on data from 2007,UPS’s 100th anniversary.

Highlights include safety goals achieved, fuel conserved through technology and increases inglobal employee volunteerism and charitable giving. Additionally, the 2007 report includes a newClimate Change Statement and establishes 2011 sustainability goals.

“With these new additions, you will see that our sustainability goals and processes areevolving along with our business as we begin our second century,” said Chairman and CEO ScottDavis.

UPS noted it was the first company in the express and parcels industry to issue asustainability report and to publicise its specific goals.
