DHL Spain has recorded strong year-on-year revenue growth of 7.7% in 2007 and opened a new depotfor pharmaceutical products near Barajas International Airport in Madrid to expand its presence in
the country.DHL Global Forwarding, the DHL unit combining air, ocean, ground transportation and customsbrokerage services with dedicated warehousing and distribution centres, generated strong salesrevenues of €123.6 million in Spain in 2007 with an increase of 7.7% compared to €114.7 million in2006.
In addition, the company is further expanding its operations at the air cargo hub at theBarajas airport in Madrid where it already has a depot, with the new “Life Sciences CompetenceCentre”. The 500 sqm facility was designed for the logistics of pharmaceutical and biotechnologicalproducts including a temperature-controlled chamber (2º-8ºC) for 72 palettes and another chamberfor 190 palettes.
Along with the air hub in Barajas, DHL Global Forwarding disposes of other similar facilitiesin Barcelona – ZAL and Bilbao – Sondica with a surface area of 10.000 sqm in total. Moreover, itoperates in the airports of Malaga and Sevilla, in Elche (Alicante), Cádiz, Las Palmas, Silla(Valencia), Taco (Tenerife), Plasencia (Cáceres) and Pla-Za (Zaragoza). The company employs aworkforce of 237 people in the country.
