AirBridgeCargo Airlines

According to AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), the first Russian all-cargoairline to operate scheduled services in Europe, Russia and Asia, Russia’s growing importance in

global air cargo will signifantly boost the country’s air cargo market.

Denis Ilyin, Senior Vice President for Strategy and Commercial atAirBridgeCargo Airlines, said at the Russia & CIS Aircraft Conference: “Despite a slightdecrease in the passenger air market, global air cargo is constantly developing with an estimatedaverage annual growth rate of 5.4% 7.1% to be reached by 2025. Russia can and will benefit stronglyfrom this development. Airfreight growth in Russia over the next 17 years is forecasted to begreater than that for North America, Europe-Middle East, Intra-Europe, Europe-Africa, Europe-NorthAmerica, Latin America-Europe and Latin America-North America.”

The development of Russian hubs in Moscow and Krasnoyarsk will greatlysupport Russia’s air cargo growth, he added. Moscow is a natural hub connecting Europe to theMiddle East, Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia while Krasnoyarsk in the Russian Far East isstrategically located in the centre of major trade lanes connecting USA, Europe and Canada toChina, Japan and Southeast Asia.

AirBridgeCargo, which is a subsidiary of Volga-Dnepr Group, a largeRussian charter carrier of outsize and heavyweight air cargo, expects Russia’s market share inglobal air logistics to increase from its present 1.4% of the total US$80 billion global market to8% in 2015 and 16% in 2030 worth an estimated $8.4 billion and $25.6 billion respectively.
