Senior executive changes were announced during June at Swiss Post, Austrian Post, TNT Express, UPSand British parcels operator APC Overnight.
Ulrich Gygi, Swiss Post CEO since 2000, has been appointed president of the Swiss Railwayssupervisory board with effect from January 2009. His successor as head of Swiss Post is expected tobe named during the autumn.
Meanwhile, Claude Béglé will join Swiss Post’s supervisory body on October 1, 2008, and willreplace its president, Anton Menth, on April 1, 2009. Menth reaches the statutory retirement age of70 next summer. Béglé, executive vice-president of Deutsche Post since Mai 2007, was formerly headof DHL Express Central Europe. He previously held senior positions with TNT Express and GeoPost.
Carl-Gerold Mende joined the Austrian Board management board on June 16 as head of Parcelsand Logistics. The former Royal Mail and GLS manager will be responsible for the postal group’sEuropean expansion in the parcels and logistics sectors. Separately, Eurodis, the group’s Europeanparcels network, appointed Carsten Siebe, formerly with DPD Germany, as head of international salesas part of its new responsibility for sales in addition to operations.
Stephen Badger, Country General Manager of TNT Swiss Post in Switzerland for the last sixyears, took up the post of Director of Operations of TNT’s International Business Units on June 1,with responsibility for operations in 46 countries. His successor is Andries Waalberg, marketing& sales manager at TNT Swiss Post since 2002.
Edward Lau was named managing director of TNT Express Hong Kong. He will work closely withTNT China to develop express and logistics services for customers in the Pearl River Delta region.
Nando Cesarone was appointed UPS country manager for Switzerland with responsibility for thecompany’s package business strategy and operations. Formerly in various management positions forUPS in Canada, he replaces Reinhold Beutel who has taken up a senior position at UPS Supply ChainSolutions in Germany.
In Britain, APC Overnight, which describes itself as the country’s largest overnight parceldelivery network, has appointed two additional industry experts to its Board of Directors. JonBarber, owner of Thames Valley-based Scarlet Couriers, and Syed Ziaullah, owner ofNorthampton-based Action Express, join the existing team of parcel logistics experts, comprisingQuentin Abel, Paul Griffiths and Ivor Skinner. Barber takes on the role of Marketing Director, withZiaullah taking up the mantle of Operations Director.
