Roberts Europe signs up Quintiq for logistics planning

Time-critical freight logistics company Roberts Europe has contracted Dutch supply chain technologyspecialists Quintiq to provide a comprehensive logistics planning solution for its pan-European

operations.

The Quintiq Logistics Planner solution will be integrated into the company’s transportmanagement system. It will be implemented in a phased approach to address the full range of needsacross Roberts Europe’s array of solutions, including road-, air- and special services. Quintiqsaid it started developing the solution in January and expects the first module to be ready forimplementation around the end of Q1 2008.

With the new solution Quintiq provides a new selling concept offering customers multipletailor-made shipping options with varied service levels, lead times and tariffs. Roberts Europe’ssales and service representatives must have instant access to real-time planning information thatcovers all transportation modes, indicates available capacity and the ability to execute within therequired service levels since each offer is generated within the time of a phone call.

Roberts Europe benefits from Quintiq’s unique ability to support solution selling throughreal-time planning and a centralised solution to be used by multiple users in multiple divisionsand locations, while still being flexible enough to handle division-specific rules and constraints.Other benefits of the Quintiq solution include the optimisation strengths of the solution andreal-time information on the impact of disturbances and planning decisions on future activities.

Roberts Europe also aims at reducing its CO2 footprint and improving the efficiency of itsoperational processes by implementing Microsoft Dynamics and the Quintiq Logistics Planner. Theprogress can be exactly monitored on the solution’s powerful Logistics Dashboard. Complying withstrict Dutch sustainability laws, Roberts Europe is making a pioneering contribution toeco-friendly logistics.

The two other express delivery companies implementing Quintiq solutions are DHL and TNTExpress. Last year, DHL signed an agreement with Quintiq for a real-time advanced planning andscheduling solution for its dispatch system. At the beginning of this year, TNT Express signed acontract for Quintiq’s advanced planning software in the collection and delivery of parcels.Quintiq generated record revenue growth of 86% in 2007.
