DHL and Sun Microsystems open new spare parts centres in Russia

DHL and the international network computing manufacturer Sun Microsystems have opened new spareparts centres in Russia as part of their long-term cooperation to boost the service quality for

regional customers and offer them a choice of service programs.

After opening a Spare Parts Center in St. Petersburg in April 2007 and a centre in Krasnodarin September 2007, DHL plans to open a Spare Parts Center in Ekaterinburg in mid-November 2007.More such centres are planned in Russia. The first Spare Parts Center was opened in Moscow in 2002after DHL won a tender for the spare parts contract.

These service programs guarantee initial after-sale support within the shortest possibleperiod of time (up to two hours from submitting the request). It will reduce the equipment downtimeto a minimum and enable the customers to use Sun’s systems for business-critical objectives, DHLRussia said in a statement.

The two companies have been cooperating successfully since 2001 building up a high level ofexpertise and an in-depth knowledge of the Russian legal framework in terms of customs clearance,reliable order and delivery system, guaranteed response times and delivery schedule. In January2006, DHL became the global logistics partner of Sun Microsystems. Sun handles its own importlogistics for Russia directly, however.

“Jointly with DHL, our company has created and is continuously improving a geographicallydistributed logistics system. We can now state with confidence that we have made a huge steptowards our customers, whose data centers are located outside Central region,” said Artem Denisyuk,head of service sales department, Sun Microsystems CIS.
