TNT Express has won a prestigious contract to deliver Singapore’s bid for the inaugural 2010 SummerYouth Olympic Games (YOG) to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne, Switzerland via
its time-critical special services.TNT said it took charge of the highly valuable documents yesterday and was due to arrive withthem in Lausanne today (Wednesday), two days ahead of the submission deadline of October 26.
Damien Tan, managing director of TNT Singapore, commented: “TNT is extremely honoured to besupporting Singapore’s bid to host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. We take Singapore’s bid very seriously and have a comprehensive plan to support the personalhand-delivery of Singapore’s Candidature files to the IOC in Lausanne.”
Singapore is bidding with nine other cities to host the event. Commenting on Singapore’schances of winning the bid, IOC member Mr. Ng Ser Miang said: “Singapore is well-placed to host theYouth Olympic Games in 2010 because as a nation, we reflect many of the Olympic values and theaspirations that the IOC have for the Youth Olympic Games. Singapore is also a multi-racialcountry where people of different ethnicities, cultures and histories live in harmony and respectone another. We are internationally recognised for our integrity and commitment to fairplay.”
