DHL Sweden has introduced a new US Next Day service to improve the opportunities for Swedishcompanies to trade with North America.
Starting on October 29, DHL will be offering companies in the Stockholm region shipments toNorth America for delivery within 24 hours. In the near future, DHL also plans to extend thisservice to the Gothenburg and Malmö regions.
To enable the faster delivery times, DHL has brought its flight departures to the USA forwardby five hours. The plane from Stockholm’s Arlanda airport departs at 6:00 pm for DHL’s own airport,DHL Air Park at Wilmington, Ohio. About 93% of shipments are cleared through customs before arrivalin the USA. Local deliveries are then handled through DHL’s upgraded nationwide distributionnetwork.
“With our new service US Next Day, Swedish companies can reach 96% of the business market inthe USA before the end of the working day, 76% of all companies before lunch, and 67% before 10:30am. I see this as something of a revolution within the transport industry, and we are the first inSweden to offer this,” said Lars Sundman, CEO of DHL Express Sweden.
North America is one of Sweden’s most important export markets. In 2006, Swedish industryexported goods to North America worth around SEK 112.9 billion, according to the Swedish TradeFederation, Svensk Handel.
