European parcels company GLS has taken a major strategic step with the launch of a newintercontinental product under the name Global Business Parcel. The new service, which has not yet
been formally announced by GLS, is apparently currently available in Germany, Austria, France,Spain and Portugal.According to information on the new GLS European website, the Global Business Parcel productprovides “highly reliable, fast and efficient” delivery of documents and parcels up to 50kg “to allcountries in the world”. There was no information on which transportation and delivery partners arebeing used.
Regular delivery times to world business centres such as the USA, Japan, Hong Kong andSingapore from Germany were just 2-4 days, GLS said. Other transit times from Germany include threedays to UAE and India, and four days to China, according to an online transit time calculator.
In a press statement, GLS France said that it started offering Global Business-Parcel at thebeginning of July, and had thus added 50 more destinations to 35 existing ones. New destinationsincluded the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, India, China and Japan, and transittimes from France varied from 4-10 days.
