EMS Russian Post speeds up domestic express deliveries

“EMS Russian Post”, the Russian Post subsidiary, has reduced delivery times for express shipmentswithin the Russian Federation. Express mail from Moscow is now delivered to major cities in one day

only, Russian Post announced.

According to EMS Russian Post director Alexander Timofeev, the national express operator hasreduced both minimum and maximum delivery times within Russia by 1-2 days. In addition, EMS RussianPost is constantly improving its service quality and offering attractive prices to attract newcustomers and maintain a stable express market position, he said.

The improvement in EMS transit times is due to the optimisation of the regional routesnetwork, the implementation of additional transport routes and the opening of regional sortingcentres of EMS Russian Post this year, amounting to 19 centres in total, Russian Post said.

The reduction of delivery times of EMS shipments affects the main routes within Russia i.e.from Moscow to most regional centres in the Central Federal District (Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh,Tambov, Ivanovo and others), the Siberian Federal District (Novosibirsk, Omsk) and otherinter-regional delivery routes.

In 2006, EMS Russian Post generated revenues of more than 800 million roubles (EUR 23million) and carried some 1.5 million express items.
