DHL Express has opened a EUR 2 million new logistics centre at Rosario, the city on the centraleastern coast of Argentina.
The 1,000 sqm plant will allow the company to triple its operations in the region, DHLExpress Argentina managing director Sergio Del Casale is reported as saying via a local mediarelease.
“The expansion of the company at Rosario and in other cities in the country typifies ourvision. We consider the interior of the country as fertile territory for growth and economicdevelopment,” said Casale. Rosario is also a strategic point for shipping by sea to Brazil andChile, he added.
DHL has invested over $40 million in Argentina since 2001, including a $25 million, 22,000sqm centre with offices in the Mataderos district of the capital Buenos Aires, and the carrier grewrevenues in the country to $40 million last year.
The Deutsche Post subsidiary has 560 employees in Argentina and over 3,000 in South Americaas a whole. It operates a hub at Buenos Aires’ Ezeiza international airport for 10 countries andthe Buenos Aires office is now the headquarters for its operations in eight Spanish-speaking SouthAmerican countries.
