Belgian Post workers will take to the streets on Friday in protest at changes to workingconditions, post office closures and “excessive” management salaries. A large turnout is expected.
The strike means that domestic and international mail for Belgian addresses will not bedelivered until next Tuesday due to the Pentecost public holiday on Monday, May 29.
The protests are over a new computer programme called Georoute 2 which fixes the postaldelivery rounds and which unions believe is causing excessive workload.
The strike is the latest in a series of postal protests across Europe in recent months, mostof which have been related to the issue of EU postal liberalisation and the impact at a nationallevel.
