Scott Price, head of DHL Express Asia Pacific, is to replace Ad Ebus as head of DHL Express inEurope where the operator is facing major challenges in several markets, CEP-Research can reveal.

The appointment has not yet been announced publicly.

In response to an enquiry, a DHL spokesman told CEP-Research: “I can confirm that Scott Pricewill become CEO Express Europe from July. Ad Ebus will retire at the end of June.” Ebus, previouslyhead of DHL Express Benelux, was appointed to the Europe position last autumn following thedeparture of Peter Kruse.

DHL Express Europe revenues stagnated at EUR 10.1 billion last year but earnings improved toan undisclosed level due to higher profits outside Germany. “We have stopped the losses in marketshare,” Global CEO John Mullen told CEP-Research in March. Top performers were Benelux, Spain andItaly, the UK made “reasonable” profits but France is likely to remain in the red until 2008, hesaid. Germany profits are expected to rise this year following the transfer of the domestic parcelbusiness to the mail division.

As CEO of DHL Express Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, US-born Price has been responsiblefor 41 countries and territories. He took up the position in December 2004 as successor to JohnMullen, and previously headed DHL Express in Japan, the company’s largest market in Asia.

Dan McHugh, DHL Asia Pacific Senior Vice President – Commercial, will take over Price’s roleon a temporary basis until a new appointment is made.
