FedEx has increased the general rate for its freight and national less-than-truckload services inNorth America by 5.59%.
The rate increase will affect the FedEx Freight and FedEx National LTL companies, but neitherFedEx Express nor FedEx Ground.
“Whether operating fast-cycle logistics or planned distribution, shippers have told us theyrequire a high degree of certainty, shipment integrity and actionable information,” said DennieCarey, senior vice-president (marketing) of FedEx Freight, explaining the rise.
“In order to meet these customer needs, FedEx Freight and FedEx National LTL are continuingto invest in our people, equipment, facilities and technology,” he added.
The increase will apply to interstate and intrastate traffic, and selected shipments betweenthe USA and Mexico and Canada.
Various additional adjustments will include minimum and accessorial charges, as well asadditional adjustments in select lanes and service areas, FedEx said. The new base rate and rulestariffs will be available FedEx Freight’s web site on 2 April.
FedEx Freight provides service to virtually all U.S. zip codes, including Alaska and Hawaii.Internationally, the company serves Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Central and South America, theCaribbean, Europe and Asia.
FedEx Freight launched its new, long-haul, LTL services in the US and Canada in February thisyear following the acquisition last year of Watkins Motor Lines.
