United Parcel Service is opening 15 new operations centres in Mexico, at a cost of $7 million,bringing its total to 35 in the country.
The US carrier, present in Mexico since 1989, said the expansion was destined to helpaccelerate the movement of goods not just between Mexico and the international community, but alsoin the national market.
“We are convinced that these new operations centres will have a positive impact on businessactivity on a local and larger scale,” said Jean Robert Corvington, UPS Mexico commercial manager.
“UPS’s vast products and services portfolio will enable companies in the area to havesynchronised trade systems that will simplify the movement of merchandise, information and funds.UPS’s presence will represent an important option for consumers and companies in the area,” headded.
New centres have already opened in Veracruz, Monclova, Puerto Vallarta, Ciudad Obregón,Manzanillo, Colima, Zacatecas, Culiacán, Mazatlán, Mérida, Cancún, Villahermosa and Acapulco, andothers will be inaugurated soon at Tampico, Pachuca and Matamoros, according to the Mexican newsagency Notimex.
