The new management team for DHL Express Germany has been officially announced following theseparation of the express and parcel businesses in Germany.
The new chairman of the DPWN Express Germany divisional board since January 1, 2007, isWolfgang Albeck who replaces Claude Béglé as head of DHL Express Germany. The other board membersare Joachim Schäfer (marketing), Holger de Fries (sales), Thomas Kling (operations), MichaelSchmidt (finances) and Martin Seiler (HR).
Albeck has held various positions within the DPWN group for the last ten years, mostly inproduction and operations. From 1999, he was responsible for Deutsche Post Express GmbH, and tookover the position of managing director of Deutsche Post Euro Express in 2002. In 2003, he wasappointed head of DHL Worldwide Express GmbH in Germany, and in 2006 moved to Brussels as ManagingDirector Operations DHL Europe.
In its latest newsletter, DHL Express Germany said that it will now be able to concentrate onits core business following the transfer of the domestic parcels business to the DPWN Mail Germanydivision, and extend its leadership of the German express market.
“With the new organisation we will not only be able to meet the requirements of time-definitebusiness better, but we will also be able to demonstrate our special strengths in this area moreclearly to existing and potential customers,” Albeck stated.
DHL Express Germany said it will focus more on medium-sized customers and ad-hoc business andin particular seek to develop its international business. The integration of DHL Express Germanyinto the DHL Express Europe organisation would support better coordination of cross-border traffic.“The highest growth potential clearly lies in the international sector, with the Eastern Europeanmarket currently showing the most attractive prospects,” Albeck added.
Trade Lane management is a further priority given the increasing investments of Germancompanies in growth regions such as China, Eastern Europe, Russia and India. DHL Express Germanywill be targeting medium-sized firms with innovative products and services such as DHL ImportExpress (IMPEX) and DHL Global Trade Services (GTS).
