IPC re-elects Bailly, Potter to top positions

International Post Corporation (IPC) chairman Jean-Paul Bailly and vice chairman John E. Potterhave been re-elected to their IPC Board positions. The organisation represents 23 leading postal

operators in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific which account for 80% of the world’s mail.

The two men were elected in a unanimous vote by IPC Board members during a meeting attendedby the chief executives and other top representatives, the IPC said in a statement. Bailly,chairman of France’s La Poste Group, and Potter, Postmaster General of the United States PostalService, were first elected in 2006. During their tenure, IPC has defined a new strategy anddirection, under the leadership of President and Chief Executive Herbert-Michael Zapf.

“The IPC member Postal operators account for 80% of the world’s mail,” said Bailly. “It istherefore clear to me that IPC has a significant role to play for our industry. We will continue toperform on our core competencies of quality of service measurement and operations upgrading and, inresponse to our members’ needs, to develop into a true industry organization.”

The vote took place at the IPC Shareholders’ Conference 2007, where more than 60 Post leadersfrom Europe, North America and Asia Pacific gathered to discuss a range of issues affecting thePostal industry. Direct mail was a special focus of the event, with the theme of how posts canprofit from changes in the global advertising market.

“Direct mail continues to show growth and is increasingly important to the mail deliveryinfrastructure,” said IPC CEO Zapf. “Customers need information on the effectiveness of direct mailand comparative data to support a choice in its favour. The task for Postal operators is todemonstrate its value and accountability as key benefits for their customers.”

The IPC Board comprises five members from European Postal operators in countries north of theAlps; two from Europe south of the Alps; two from North America and the Pacific region; one fromScandinavia; and the IPC president and chief executive officer.
