DHL to sponsor top US fashion events

DHL is to sponsor a series of top fashion events in the USA, starting with one of the world’spremier events, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, which starts on Friday next week, 2

February.

DHL has announced a deal with the fashion week organisers IMG Fashion, a division of the IMGmedia and entertainment giant and leader in the management and production of industry fashionevents, to sponsor the New York show.

The Deutsche Post company will also support similar subsequent fashion weeks organised by IMGin Los Angeles and Miami, as well as handling delivery and logistics for a consumer tour that kicksoff in March and takes in Houston, Dallas, Chicago and San Francisco.

Over 100,000 fashion industry members are due to attend the invitation-only New York event,which is held twice-a-year under tents in Bryant Park and features around 70 designers unveilingnew collections for the press, retailers and company executives.
 
“Fashion is a $250 billion business worldwide and a key industry for growth,” said KarenJones, senior vice-president (corporate & marketing communications) for DHL Express.

“Fashion Week provides a unique opportunity for DHL to demonstrate its deepresources,extensive international capabilities and services tailored to the fashion industry. Overthe last several years, DHL has created several new services and strengthened existing capabilitiesto better serve the fashion industry.”

The DHL presence at Bryant Park is designed to cultivate business relationships with theretailers, designers and manufacturers, the company said. The carrier will provide shippingservices for guests, mount advertising outdoors, in print and on IMG’s web site, and organisedirect mailshots during the week.
