Spain’s MRW expands Bilbao operation

New franchises

Spanish express carrier MRW has moved and expanded its Bilbao logistics centre in order to keep upwith growing orders in the Basque region.



The company, which has 39 centres in Spain totalling around 90,000 sqm, has moved the centreto the Ugarte industrial estate in the city’s Larrondo de Zaratamo district.

“With this new location, strategically better situated than the previous one, we canguarantee clients the quality levels and efficiency they have come to expect from the network,” MRWsaid in a statement.

MRW has also opened two new franchise outlets in the past couple of months, one in Sarrià deTer, its 15th in the Catalonian province of Girona, announced this week, and another at Lepe in theAndalucian province of Huelva.

The carrier, whose revenues grew to EUR 517 million in 2005, has opened 28 new service pointsin the past year (roughly one every 13 days), taking its number of outlets to 764 in Spain,Gibraltar, Portugal and Andorra.

Third in the Spanish market behind DHL Express and Seur according to the magazine “Logística,Paquetería y Almacenaje”, MRW operates with 9,000 workers, over 4,500 vehicles and three aircraft.
