TNT Post UK wins EUR 70m contract with Centrica

TNT wins UK deal

TNT Post has won another large contract in the UK, a EUR 70 million (GBP 23 million) deal to handle170 million mail items a year for energy supplier Centrica.



The two-year contract, worth EUR 35 million a year, will see TNT Post processing 120 milliontransactional mail items annually and 50 million direct marketing mailings for Centrica.

Only on Monday, Royal Mail’s largest competitor announced it had won the UK’s biggest postalcontract since deregulation of the bulk mail market three years ago – a EUR 134 million (GBP 90million) agreement to handle British Telecom’s transactional mail, bills and statements.

Centrica’s transactional mail is generated at their print and mail centres in Northampton andManchester. Like BT, the energy giant will mainly be using TNT Post’s Premier service, a two-daytime-definite service for pre-sorted mail using flexible pick-up times and enhanced trackingsystems, with Royal Mail continuing to carry out the final sort and delivery.

TNT Post already handles mail for UK utility companies npower and Thames Water, and recentlyalso announced large deals with supermarket giant Sainsbury’s and another telecomms operator,T-Mobile.
