DHL Russia plans new sales points

DHL Express plans to open more than 20 new service points in Russia’s largest cities inanticipation of its domestic and international business in the country continuing to show strong

double-digit growth in 2007.

Over the next three years, the express company plans to invest a further EUR 15 million indeveloping its Russian service point network in Moscow as well as in other cities across theRussian Federation.

This follows the opening of six service points last year – in Moscow, St Petersburg andYekaterinburg – and the carrier says it has also extended pick-up services in the cities byproviding later cut-offs and weekend deliveries.

Russian revenues grew 50% last year, the company said, and shipment volumes by 30%, on 2005.

”Our Russia business continues to go from strength to strength; our strategic initiatives aresuccessfully supporting the continued expansion of our business and increasing our market leadingposition,” said Mark Jordan, commercial manager with DHL Express Russia.

In May last year, Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN), the carrier’s parent, announced a major$250 million investment by 2010, specifically designed to extend DHL’s express and logistics marketleadership by improving its domestic road network, infrastructure and expanding the productportfolio.

“We have opened 15 European Union countries for pre-1200 hrs delivery (next working day) fordutiable shipments, pre-0900 hrs and pre-1200 hrs delivery to major Asian countries and over 200pre-1200 hrs delivery lanes within Russia,” DHL said in a statement.
