Toll unveils new air freight network

Australia’s Toll Group yesterday unveiled a new domestic air freight strategy designed to offerbetter service to users throughout the country.



“We now have the capability to provide efficient and competitive air line-haul services tosupport the growth in the air express market, and we expect the business to grow strongly,” saidToll Group managing director Paul Little in a statement.

The launching of the new dedicated air fleet of three Boeing 737-300Fs and two ATR42s,together with Toll’s current 50 charter aircraft, will provide a key platform for freighterservices.

Transport and regional services minister Mark Vaile officially unveiled the planes atBrisbane airport before an audience of key government, business and industry dignitaries.

In addition, Toll and Virgin Blue have agreed to enter into a long term arrangement for theprovision of freight capacity of Virgin Blue fleet, the group announced.

“This agreement enables Toll to secure important belly space capacity and operationalmanagement throughout the Virgin Blue network, whilst providing Virgin Blue with a strong revenuestream anticipated to grow rapidly,” Little added.

“This is clearly a significant milestone for Toll, as it brings together the vital corecomponents required to provide a seamless efficient air freight network.”
