Chronopost opens EUR 12m new Lyon-Corbas hub

La Poste’s express subsidiary Chronopost opened a brand new regional hub at Corbas near Lyonyesterday, a key centre in the company’s new French network.



Chronopost built the EUR 12 million centre, where 150 employees will work, in one year andexpects it to handle 20% of its national volume, 50,000 parcels per day.

“It is Chronopost’s most important regional hub,” president Christian Emery told Frenchjournalists while opening the facility. 

Chronopost is also building a EUR 50 million main national hub at Chilly-Mazarin, south ofParis, due to open at the beginning of next year.

Following a strategy review, Chronopost is having to scale back its international operationsand focus on growing French-based business activities.

The express operator is significantly increasing the density of its national metropolitannetwork this year, basing it on 60 local centres and five new hubs at Montpellier, Poitier andRoissy (Charles De Gaulle airport), as well as Corbas and Chilly-Mazarin.

The company also overhauled its management team under Emery in May this year, appointing fivenew senior executives, most of them from outside companies, to handle the change.
